2. Acceptance of Terms
By using our website, submitting an enquiry, or engaging a programme, you confirm that you are aged 18 or over and have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement. These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. By engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
3. Service Description
Legatum provides administrative records organisation and cataloguing support for household documents and heirloom objects. All work is administrative in nature: sorting, labelling, scanning, indexing, photographing, describing and writing. Legatum does not provide legal, financial, valuation, estate administration or any other regulated advice or service. Nothing produced by Legatum constitutes professional advice of any kind.
Services are delivered in person at the Client's location within Petaling Jaya and the wider Klang Valley. Availability is subject to the Coordinator's schedule. Sessions are booked by appointment.
4. Programme Scope and Booking
The scope of each programme is defined at the outset and confirmed in writing. Programmes are booked by completing an enquiry, receiving a written programme confirmation, and paying the deposit or full fee as agreed. A programme is not confirmed until payment is received.
Programme scope
- Single-Decade Sort: one session of 2 hours, one decade of household papers.
- Objects and Provenance Programme: 6 sessions across 6 weeks, up to 150 items.
- Complete Records and Handover Programme: up to 18 sessions across 16 weeks, covering papers, devices and objects.
Additional sessions beyond the programme scope may be arranged at a separate rate agreed in writing before work proceeds.
5. Fees and Payment
Programme fees as at the date of these terms are:
- Single-Decade Sort: RM 530 (all-inclusive, single payment in advance)
- Objects and Provenance Programme: RM 2,050 (payable 50% on confirmation, 50% on final session)
- Complete Records and Handover Programme: RM 4,700 (payable 40% on confirmation, 30% at week 8, 30% on final session)
All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are inclusive of all sessions, materials, written outputs and travel within the Klang Valley. External storage media (drives, archival boxes) are not included and are purchased by the Client at cost. Fees do not include goods and services tax where applicable. Legatum will notify the Client of any applicable tax prior to confirmation.
Payment may be made by bank transfer. Details are provided on the programme confirmation. Legatum reserves the right to pause sessions where a payment instalment is overdue by more than 7 days.
6. Cancellation and Rescheduling
Cancellation by the Client
- More than 7 days before the first session: full refund of any deposit paid.
- 3–7 days before the first session: 50% of the deposit is retained to cover preparation time.
- Less than 3 days before the first session or after the programme has begun: fees paid for completed work are non-refundable. Fees for uncompleted sessions may be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Rescheduling
Individual sessions may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice at no charge, subject to Coordinator availability. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice may be treated as completed for payment purposes unless exceptional circumstances apply, at Legatum's discretion.
Pausing a programme
Clients may pause a programme for up to 8 weeks without additional charge. Longer pauses may require a re-scheduling fee to cover re-familiarisation with the material.
Cancellation by Legatum
If Legatum is unable to fulfil a confirmed programme, we will provide at least 7 days' notice where possible and offer either a full refund of fees paid or rescheduling at a mutually convenient time.
7. Client Responsibilities
- Provide reasonable access to the premises and to the materials in scope on scheduled session days.
- Ensure that at least one adult family member is available during sessions that require context or decision-making.
- Provide appropriate working space and, for longer programmes, power for scanning equipment.
- Notify Legatum of any access restrictions, hazardous conditions, or matters affecting session delivery.
- Not request Legatum to undertake any activity outside the agreed programme scope without prior written agreement.
8. Intellectual Property
All written outputs produced by Legatum — summaries, gap lists, orientation documents, catalogue entries, registers — are created for the Client's exclusive use. Ownership of these documents passes to the Client on full payment of programme fees. Legatum retains no copies of client outputs once a programme is closed.
The method sheets provided to Clients are Legatum's proprietary materials. They may be used freely by the Client and their family but may not be reproduced for commercial purposes or distributed to third parties.
9. Confidentiality
Legatum treats all information encountered during programme sessions as strictly confidential. Nothing seen, heard or handled during a session will be discussed, shared or referenced outside the engagement. A written confidentiality agreement is available on request before any session begins. This obligation survives the conclusion of the programme indefinitely.
10. Limitation of Liability and Disclaimers
Legatum provides administrative support services only. Nothing produced by Legatum constitutes legal, financial, tax, valuation or estate-administration advice. The Client is responsible for engaging qualified professionals for all regulated matters.
To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, Legatum's liability to the Client in connection with any programme is limited to the fees paid for that programme. Legatum is not liable for indirect, consequential or incidental losses, including losses arising from the Client's reliance on outputs for regulated purposes.
Legatum takes reasonable care when handling physical materials but cannot accept liability for pre-existing damage or deterioration to documents or objects discovered during a session.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from this Agreement shall first be subject to good-faith discussion between the parties. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be referred to the courts of Malaysia, jurisdiction of Selangor.
12. General Provisions
These terms constitute the entire agreement between Legatum and the Client regarding the subject matter herein, superseding all prior discussions. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. Legatum's failure to enforce any provision does not waive the right to enforce it in future. Legatum may update these terms; the current version will always be published at this URL. Continued engagement after an update constitutes acceptance.
